A governorship aspirant under the platform of the African Democratic Congress, Barrister Mfon Udeme Peter, has dismissed rumours alleging that his governorship ambition is being sponsored by the All Progressives Congress government.

The aspirant, who hails from Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, stated this while speaking with journalists during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Uyo.

Mfon Peter described the allegation as false and unfounded, insisting that his aspiration is driven by a genuine desire to render people-oriented governance and contribute meaningfully to the development of Akwa Ibom State.

He added that despite never occupying the office of governor, he had achieved personal success, stressing that his ambition was motivated by a desire to address hunger, unemployment, hardship and other socio-economic challenges facing the state.

“We want to render people-oriented governance that will directly address hunger, unemployment, hardship and other socio-economic challenges facing our people. Despite not occupying the office of governor before now, I have achieved personal success, and my ambition is driven by the desire to serve and improve the living conditions of Akwa Ibom people,” he said.

According to him, his focus remains on policies that would improve the welfare of the people through economic growth, youth empowerment, infrastructural development and transparent leadership.

He maintained that the ADC remains a credible alternative platform for Nigerians seeking good governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governorship aspirant also called on the public to disregard rumours capable of distracting him from his political ambition and commitment to service.
