Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, on Monday, received students from the National Open University (NOUN), Uyo Study Centre, who participated in a cleaning initiative at the NUJ Press Centre as part of their maiden health week celebration.
Speaking at the occasion, Comrade John expressed his appreciation to the students for choosing the NUJ Press Centre as one of their cleaning locations, emphasising that their efforts were highly valued by the Union.
The Chairman wished the students a successful health week celebration and encouraged them to take their studies seriously so that they would be recognised for both character and academic excellence by the end of their programmes.
Earlier, Comrade Imoabasi Moses, the Chairman of the Events Planning Committee, along with the Faculty’s Desk Officer, Alexander Otobong, shared details about the Health Week celebration organised by the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the institution.
With the theme “Promoting Health Equity Through Community-Based Initiatives: A Focus on the AKSHIA Agenda and the ARISE Care Package,” they announced that the celebration would include a carnival parade through the streets of Uyo, pageantry, a football match, free health awareness sessions, and much more.
The students were further guided around the Patience Umo Eno Auditorium, Daniel Ekanem Hall, the administrative block, and other areas, where they carried out the cleaning exercise.
