As preparations heighten for the Ibom Beauticians Exhibition and Awards Summit, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, has urged members of the Association to remain consistent and adopt a customer-friendly approach in their services.
Comrade John gave the advice during a media engagement organized by the Ibom Beauticians Association in Uyo, where the Convener, Deaconess Helen Ekong unveiled detailed plans for the 2025 summit.
He emphasized that professionalism and consistency are key to sustaining growth and building trust in the beauty industry, noting that customer satisfaction plays a crucial role in business success.
The NUJ Boss described the initiative as inspiring and impactful, particularly in supporting young talented Akwa Ibom indigenes in the beauty industry.
“As media practitioners, we will give you the needed publicity and ensure your efforts are widely known. This initiative is inspiring, and I urge you to remain intentional in promoting it,” he said.
The NUJ Chairman further advised the organizers to collaborate with the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) to leverage digital platforms for pre-event, live-event, and post-event publicity to boost visibility and participation.
Comrade John also cautioned against politicizing the event, stressing that it transcends politics and focuses on empowering young people through creativity, professionalism, and mentorship, hence the need to stick to it’s original mission .
Earlier in her remarks, Deaconess Helen Ekong, convener of the Ibom Beauticians Association, unveiled plans to reposition the beauty industry in Akwa Ibom State through a faith-inspired initiative designed to unite beauticians, promote professional ethics, entrepreneurship, tourism, and human capacity development.
Describing the association as “a vision born of God,” she explained that the 2025 summit will feature exhibitions, masterclasses, and award presentations aimed at enhancing business development and global exposure for beauticians.
While recounting her journey in the beauty industry from Calabar to Uyo, Akwa Ibom and later Abuja, where she currently runs a beauty outlet, Deaconess Ekong noted that Akwa Ibom is fast emerging as a hub of creativity and enterprise under Governor Eno’s Arise Agenda.
She said having trained in the United Kingdom, she believes that the association’s mission is to “upgrade the beauty profession through adherence to global health, safety, and ethical standards.”
She announced that the 2025 conference will feature distinguished guests, including Dr. Hilda Ashio Titiloye, Lead Aesthetic Physician at Skin101 Clinics, representative of the International Therapist Examination Council (ITEC), Mrs. Helen Obareki the Wife of the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Deaconess Margaret Udeme Otong, among others.
According to her, the event will also recognize outstanding personalities and entrepreneurs for their contributions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Akwa Ibom, as well as young beauticians for creativity and innovation.
Meanwhile, the Ibom Beauticians Exhibition and Awards Summit 2025 is scheduled to hold on Monday, October 27, and Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Ibom Hall, Uyo, and is expected to serve as a major platform for redefining beauty standards, strengthening professional ethics, and positioning Akwa Ibom as a leading hub for creative excellence.
