The Institute of Corporate Leadership and Mentorship (ICLM) has sought strategic partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, as part of efforts to strengthen leadership development and expand its impact in the state.
The National President and Director-General of the Institute, Apostle Emmanuel Eduongo, FCLMI, FCALANIPS, who led members of the Institute on a courtesy visit to the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Uyo, described him as an ambassador of good morals and values.
He reaffirmed the Institute’s readiness to collaborate with the union by organizing an Executive Council Retreat aimed at sharpening leadership skills, aligning priorities, and strengthening team spirit within the union’s new leadership.
Highlighting upcoming programmes, Eduongo announced that the institute is set to organize the 2025 Professional Women in Leadership Summit which will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, with the theme: “Empowered to Lead: Women Shaping the Future of Work and Society,” with Prof. Dr. Queen Elizabeth Lucas-Afolalu, President of Yes You Can International (YYCI), United Kingdom as the keynote speaker.
He further revealed that the National Leadership and Entrepreneurship Conference (NALEC 2025) will hold from November 11–13, 2025, featuring keynote presentations, product exhibitions, business networking, mentorship sessions, fellowship investitures, and the conferment of professional doctorate degrees and leadership gold awards, stressing that the institute now have up to six international affiliations and professional partnerships, including one with Appleton Private University, United Kingdom, which jointly awards the Executive Professional Doctorate in Leadership.
Apostle Eduongo congratulated Comrade Nsibiet John and his Exco members on their victory in the August 2 council elections, maintaining that his emergence reflected his proven track record of service as Chairman of the Federated Chapel and the confidence reposed in him by journalists across the state.
In his response, Comrade John expressed appreciation to Apostle Eduongo and the ICLM for their unwavering support and consistency, noting that as a Fellow of the Institute, he had witnessed the tremendous growth opportunities it offers members and society at large.
The NUJ chairman assured that the council was ready to partner with the Institute in promoting its core values, describing them as a unique and essential group for societal development and individual growth. He, however, appealed to the Institute to prioritize bringing in experts in the oil and gas sector to enlighten Akwa Ibom people on how to maximize the state’s natural resources.
Others present at the meeting included NUJ State Auditor, Comrade Dianime Uko; ICLM Director of Programmes, Rev. Davidson Etim, FCLMI; Coordinator of the Professional Women in Leadership Summit, Dr. Alice Etuk, FCLMI; and ICLM Media Officer, Ubong-Abasi Umoren.
