…Urges Ini People to Sustain Support for Gov. Umo Eno
A Chief Lecturer at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Dr Udeme Nana, has described Nigeria as a young nation still evolving, urging citizens to remain patient, resilient, and hopeful as the country continues to advance in its growth.
Dr Nana made this remark on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, during a stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Executive Chairman of Ini Local Government Area, Hon. Inibehe Umah, at the Council Secretariat, Odoro Ikpe, to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The media scholar, who once served as a top Media Aide to former Governors Victor Attah and Godswill Akpabio, observed that Nigeria, having attained independence in 1960, has continued to produce leaders with diverse visions aimed at repositioning the country. He noted that, like other nations that took time to evolve, Nigerians require patience and commitment in nurturing the country to become stronger and better.
While congratulating Nigeria at 65 and Akwa Ibom State at 38, Dr Nana asserted that the nation is richly endowed with human, mineral and other natural resources, which, if properly harnessed, can secure sustainable prosperity for the citizens.
“Our challenge is to maximize these gifts through exemplary leadership and responsible citizenship with the hope of achieving our aspirations in the near future,” he said.
Dr Nana who is also the Founder of the Uyo Book Club and is considered as the father of the book Club movement in Akwa Ibom State, commended Governor Umo Eno for his development strides in the State particularly in infrastructural and human capital development including deliberate support for small and medium-scale enterprises, describing him as a leader with empathy for the people.
Similarly, he applauded the Chairman of Ini Local Government Council, Hon. Inibehe Umah for his people – centric leadership style, observing that his administration has been impactful and people-oriented. He particularly lauded the chairman’s “U Rise, We Rise” initiative, which according to him, had provided financial support to entrepreneurs and farmers across all wards of the council.
“Societies today thrive when people are developed, because well-equipped citizens eventually drive community growth. If you invest in people, they will, in turn, invest their knowledge and skills in developing their society,” he stressed.
Dr Nana assured of his continued support for the government while urging leaders at all levels to remain proactive and intentional about the welfare of people at the grassroots which he described as the foundation of effective governance.
The Stakeholders meeting had in attendance past and present political leaders from the Local Government Area across political party lines.
