NUJ Chairman Hails Akandavid Institute, Celebrates Cohort 12 Graduates

The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Nsibiet John, has commended the Chancellor of the AkanDavid Institute of Public Speaking, Pharm Akan David, for the institute’s outstanding role in grooming confident communicators and nurturing excellent public speakers across the state.

He said this during the 12th Public Lecture and Graduation Ceremony of the institute held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Nigerian Bar Association Secretariat, Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo.

Comrade John lauded the institute’s support for young people in Akwa Ibom, particularly in helping them sharpen their public speaking skills, and noted that some NUJ members have also benefited from its training. He appreciated the Chancellor’s commitment to building a generation of articulate professionals capable of commanding public confidence.

The NUJ Chairman extended special congratulations to the Cohort 12 graduates for successfully completing the intensive training, and Dr Rhoda Asuquo, who emerged as the overall best graduating student.

While commending the graduates for their commitment to personal growth he further urged them to deploy their skills to positively impact society.

He described public speaking as a critical element of leadership and professional excellence, explaining that Akwa Ibom State is fortunate to host an institution like the AkanDavid Institute of Public Speaking. According to him, the institute has consistently provided a platform for knowledge sharing and capacity development, which are vital to the state’s socio-economic growth.

Comrade John assured that the NUJ will continue to support initiatives that enhance professional development, particularly those that promote effective communication, confidence building, and leadership skills among youths and journalists in the State.
