NYCN Lauds Gov. Eno’s Focus on Youth Development

…Sues for Unity and Progress
… Passes vote of confidence on the Governor

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, has commended Governor Umo Eno for his unwavering commitment to uniting and connecting Akwa Ibom State to the national mainstream.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Council on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Uyo, the State Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Ekong, highlighted how the Governor’s Arise Agenda has positively impacted the youth of Akwa Ibom State. He cited initiatives such as the Ibom Ignite Conference, Ibom LED Program, the Akwa Ibom Sports Festival, and various training programs for young women across the state.

Comrade Ekong expressed appreciation for Governor Eno’s youth-friendly leadership style, noting that within just two years in office, the Governor has launched numerous programs aimed at empowering young people with vital skills and resources.

He also commended the Governor’s interventions in the education sector, including the training of youths and the provision of opportunities for skills acquisition.

The NYCN further thanked Pastor Umo Eno for encouraging youth participation in governance and recognizing their vital role in shaping the future of the state. The Council pledged to continue working with his administration to ensure the success of its youth-centered programs and initiatives.

The Council also urged its members to remain committed to the ideals of love, unity, and diligence.

During the meeting, Comrade Ekong thanked members for conducting a peaceful, free, and fair election that produced 30 Executive members who will steer the affairs of the NYCN in the coming eight years.

He emphasized that leadership is a call to promote the welfare of young people in Akwa Ibom State. In his words:

> “My vision is that every Akwa Ibom youth must understand and accept that only peace, love, and unity—both individually and collectively—can drive our development and help us thrive globally.”

 

He also stated that his mission is to ensure every Akwa Ibom youth enjoys their rights socially and politically, while upholding respect for elders and promoting traditional values.

Comrade Ekong concluded by announcing an upcoming initiative tagged “Youth Feast Tour”—a platform designed to educate youths on digital technology and its effective application in today’s world.

Highpoint of the meeting was a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Umo Eno’s leadership by National Youth Council of Nigeria Akwa Ibom State Chapter appreciating his efforts in empowering young people and promoting peace and development in the state, while pledging total support for the governor’s administration and policies.
NYCN Called on all youth organizations and stakeholders to join them in supporting the governor’s administration.
