…As Barr. Mfon Peter Joins Governorship Race, Visits NUJ

A legal practitioner and politician, Barrister Mfon Udeme Peter, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State under the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Mfon Peter made this known during a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, where he met with journalists and media stakeholders in Uyo.
Speaking during the visit, the governorship aspirant said his decision to join the race was borne out of his desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of Akwa Ibom State through purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance.
He said the state requires leadership that would prioritise economic growth, youth empowerment, infrastructural development and transparency in governance.
According to him, the ADC remains a credible platform capable of providing the needed alternative for the people of the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mfon Peter also commended journalists for their role in promoting democracy and holding leaders accountable, urging the media to continue to uphold professionalism and balanced reportage.
Responding, the leadership of the NUJ, led by the Chairman, Comrade Nsibiet John, appreciated the aspirant for the visit and assured him of fairness, objectivity and professionalism in covering political activities in the state.
His declaration brings to the fore the growing number of aspirants seeking the ADC governorship ticket in Akwa Ibom State ahead of the 2027 elections.
