Senate President Godswill Akpabio has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he was surprised the opposition party was still in existence and suggesting it should be allowed to “die completely.”

Akpabio made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of a road project in the Gaduwa District of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Reacting to the emergence of a PDP candidate in a recent election, the Senate President questioned the party’s relevance, saying he had assumed it had ceased to exist.

“I didn’t know there was still a PDP. Wike, stop confusing us. If a party has died, allow it to die,” Akpabio said.

He added that he had no interest in discussing the affairs of the PDP, insisting that the party was no longer politically significant.

“I won’t discuss anything concerning the PDP’s working committee. Like I said, anything that has died has died,” he stated.

Akpabio also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his outstanding performance in transforming Abuja.

According to him, the scale of infrastructure development under Wike has surpassed that of previous FCT administrations.

“My dear brother, the Minister of the FCT, has made his predecessors look like they only came to drink tea in Abuja. What you and President Bola Tinubu are doing here has left many people amazed. You are performing miracles,” Akpabio said.
